Every Stephanie Sloan print starts with a drawing, graphic marks of texture and pattern. Drawings are fine-tuned in the studio and then printed onto a clear film, ready to expose onto screens.

Screen print process

Screens are coated with a photosensitive emulsion and screen and film are placed into an exposure unit. Controlled light is applied and once exposed correctly, the screen is rinsed to complete the process. The screen is left with controlled ‘open areas’ where ink can be pushed through and ‘blocked areas’ where white space is left.

A seperate screen is made in this way for each colour on every print.

Using water-based inks, colours are mixed and pushed through the screen in a layer by layer process.

Stephanie prints onto 100% cotton Arches paper, a high quality acid free art paper which, combined with pigment rich printing inks, results in a dense, lightfast, museum grade artwork.

Each screen print is created in a Limited Edition with a specified amount of prints made from each screen.

Screen prints are then titled, signed and numbered with a unique edition number by the artist.
